Convert Multiple Spaces to Comma in Files (GPL)

"MultiSpace2Comma.bash" is an UNIX BASH script that helps you convert data with multiple spaces as separators to comma separated values (CSV). The results can be sent to the display output or redirected to a file. It has the ability to handle data coming in through STDIN (pipe).

Take the following data line for example, MultiSpace2Comma.bash can convert that data to the data presented in the line below it.

98054116    001WARD2C    PC    Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising     $22.90
98054116,001WARD2C,PC,Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising,$22.90

"MultiSpaces2Comma.bash" takes advantage of the following UNIX shell script, which is also available on this site. So to use the this script, you will need to download this other script if you don't already have it.

GetTempPathName.ksh

"MultiSpace2Comma.bash" is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site.

Usage

  MultiSpace2Comma.bash "file 1" [ . . . "file N" ]
    You may substitute '-' in place of a file to read from STDIN.
