RepeatCommand.sh (GPL)RepeatCommand.sh is a Bourne Shell script that will repeat a command you specify on a list that is submitted through stdin. It's extremely handy when you want to operate on a list of files or a list of strings, without having to write a new script every time. Because RepeatCommand.sh is written as a command-line script, it can be used in your own custom shell scripts. RepeatCommand.sh is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site. UsageUsage: RepeatCommand.sh "command" ExampleIt's really hard to describe what RepeatCommand.sh does. But once you see some examples, you will see how powerful it really is. So without much further ado, here is one example. Please do let us know how you use RepeatCommand.sh. Copying a List of FilesHere is a simple example of copying a list of files from two different directories to another. Let say 't.txt' contains the following entries: /etc/reader.conf The following command will copy each of those files into "${HOME}/backup" directory. cat t.txt | RepeatCommand.sh "cp %arg% ~/backup" Note that each line in t.txt will replace "%arg%" in the actual command. Chieh Cheng The previous version of RepeatCommand.sh implement includes a conflict between sed and forward-slashes. In this version, I gotten rid of that conflict by changing '/' to '|' in the sed command. Chieh Cheng
