RenameKonsoleTab.sh (GPL)If you use KDE Konsol, then you have, no doubt, used its tabbing system to moving from one console to another. The tabs are usually named "Shell No. 3". Basically a relatively non-associative name. You can right-click on the tab to rename it. But that's not very useful for the lazy. This "RenameKonsoleTab.sh" allows you to rename the tab of the current Konsole session from the command-line. You can use this Bourne script in your custom shell script to rename tabs automatically. "RenameKonsoleTab.sh" takes advantage of the "ApplicationExists.sh" (GPL) shell script, which is also available on this site. So to use the this script, you will need to download the "ApplicationExists.sh" script if you don't already have it. "RenameKonsoleTab.sh" is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site. UsageRenameKonsoleTab.sh "new name" Chieh Cheng I updated this "RenameKonsoleTab.sh" script slightly. It now checks to see if you are running on a system where DCOP is active. If DCOP is not active, this script does nothing instead of outputting error messages. It basically checks the KONSOLE_DCOP variable. Chieh Cheng
