Eliminate.sh (GPL)

A while back, I wrote and posted an utility called DelList.sh on this web site. This utility helped you delete a list of files. But today, I needed something more powerful. Something that can not only delete files, but, at the same time, delete directories recursively.

Eliminate.sh accomplishes that task. It can help you eliminate a list of files and directories. It's most useful when you use it with the UNIX find utility. Eliminate.sh takes a list of file from the standard-input. If files exist, then it deletes the files. If directories exist, then it deletes the directory recursively. It's a pretty simple script, but it is very useful and extremely powerful. If you are not careful, it can eliminate your root directory.

Eliminate.sh is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site.

Example

  find . -name "*.tmp" 2> /dev/null | Eliminate.sh

The above example deletes all files and directores with the "tmp" extension from the the current directory and all sub-directories.
