SymbolToString.ksh (GPL)"SymbolToString.ksh" is a Korn shell script that convert symbols in a string into english names. For example, '$' is converted to "dollar". The rest of the letters in the string are pass-through to output. One possible use for this utility is to convert user input into file names. "SymbolToString.ksh" takes advantage of the SubString (Freeware) Java software, which are also available on this site. So to use this script, you will need to download the SubString program if you don't already have it. "SymbolToString.ksh" is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site.
