Real-Time Digital Photo Frame.py (GPL)I started playing with the OLPC XO today, after given it to my daughter as her Christmas present. One of the application I ran into today is the Pippy application. It was the cute snake icon on the Sugar GUI. After loading it up, I found a neat camera script that snaps a photo with the web cam and twirl it around on the screen until it disappears. That gave me great idea. I decided to modify that script and wrote a Real-Time Digital Photo Frame.py Python script. This Real-Time Digital Photo Frame script snaps a photo, display it on the screen, and goes to sleep. After a minute, it takes another photo to display. This continues until the user presses a button on the OLPC XO keyboard. This script literally turns the OLPC XO into a real-time digital photo frame. Just copy the content of this script, paste it into Pippy, and click the run button. Chieh Cheng It would probably be easy to add a function to upload the saved picture to a remote website thus creating an instant web cam... Bill V You are quite right Bill. Soon after I wrote this python script, I had my Linux server download the images captured by the OLPC to archive and to place on my home web server. Chieh Cheng
