Java Date::getMonth () Deprecation

You may have experienced with the java.util.Date::getMonth () method deprecation. Such as the following example shows:

IsMonth.java:67: warning: [deprecation] getMonth() in java.util.Date has been deprecated
int curMonth = date.getMonth ();

It's always hard to change your code to the new standards. Especially when you have to learn how the new standard works. To make your life easier, I'll show you the change. The following is the change you have to make to conform to the new standard.

    Date curDate = new Date ();
TimeZone tz = TimeZone.getDefault ();
Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance (tz);
c.setTime (curDate);
int curMonth = c.get (Calendar.MONTH);

Only: I fail to see the advantage of the new system. Honestly: 5 mega über ugly lines of code where there had been replace one elegant function call. Sucks big time.

I agree. I was also frustrated at having to learn to write that five lines of code when the one liner worked for ages. Maybe it's time to implement these five lines of code into a new "Date" class. :-P
