eGrep (Freeware)

"eGrep.class" is a Java command-line utility that is similar to UNIX "grep" and "egrep" commands. It basically searches through text content for matching strings. It is a port of the UNIX "egrep" utility to Java. Written in Java, "eGrep.class" can perform its task on any operating system that supports Java, such as Windows.

"eGrep.class" is distributed as Freeware. Please see the "Freeware License Agreement" elsewhere on this site.

Usage

  java eGrep [options] "pattern" [ "file 1" . . . "file N" ]
    Options:
      -c - Count numbers of lines matching.
      -v - Invert matching; select non-matching lines.

Looks like I made quite a few changes to eGrep since its 1.0 release, but never released the changes publicly. Well, here is the latest version 2.11.

Usage

  java eGrep [options] "pattern" [ "file 1" . . . "file N" ]
    Options:
      -c - Count numbers of lines matching.
      -i - Ignore case.
      -o - Print only matched parts of line(s).
      -v - Invert matching; select non-matching lines.
