TakeControl 2.04I was unable to install this software.I clicked on the install.bat as instructed but only three empty folders were installed one on the desk top,one in program files folder and one in the start menu. I tried extracting the contents of the zip file into the program file folder that the install.bat created,but nothing happened.Help My operating system is Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 Timothy Murray The only reason I can think of that's causing your problem is that your account is not admin and therefore do not have permission to write to those locations. Try copying everything out of the ZIP file and put it on your desktop to see if you have the same problem or not. Chieh Cheng Dear Chieh Cheng, I extracted the contents of the zip to the desktop,and tried to install the program from there. This was the outcome: the three folders deployed as before but this time they were not empty please see attached screen shots.1.Desktop Folder,2.Start Menu Folder,3.Program Files Folder I noticed in the description of this software that there should be a Graphical User Interface, but when I click on the TakeControl ShortCut located in the Take Control folder on the desk a command promt appeared I do have Administrator Privileges.My thought was that Kaspersky Antivirus may be to blame for the bad install but no alerts from Kaspersky popped up during install. I have heard to many good things about this program to not succeed at installing it. Attached Image: Timothy Murray Hi Timothy, It looks like the program has been installed correctly. The start menu seems to have some extra stuff in it. These don't belong: eBay TakeControl is a command-line tool that has been integrated into the Windows GUI environment. You drag-and-drop files/directories onto the four included icons to perform those tasks. Command-line prompts will pop-up and show the progress of the work. The command prompt you started by double-clicking on TakeControl shortcut is the correct result. Because you didn't drag any files or directories onto it, it shows you the command-line options for running it on the command-line. Chieh Cheng Dear Chieh Cheng, Thank you for your Help. I Deleted my Desktop Shortcuts that somehow was swept into both the Start Menu folder and the Program Files Folder when I clicked on the install.bat file. I deleted the shortcuts in the program Files folder before I took the Screenshot but neglected to do so with the Start Menu folder which has now been done. I get the extraction ok, but see no desk top folder, nor anything in Program files. Thanks in advance... Bob Bob Yes. I use it with Windows 7 Home Premium. It works fine. Open the ZIP file in Windows. Then double-click "Install.bat" inside the ZIP to have it automatically install it. It will be installed to "C:\Program Files\TakeControl". Chieh Cheng
