TakeControl 2.01After installing there are no shortcuts on the desktop, I copied the shortcuts from C:\program files\TakeControl to the desktop. Dragging files or maps to the propried shortcut created a DOS screen what said anything works succesful and press a key. But nothing changed. I could not get access Jan de Graaf What is your Windows version? It'll help me investigate why you have no desktop shortcuts. If the output says the operations are successful, then it has done it's job. The problem is else where, such as Windows Explorer or another program has the file open. I experience this problem just last night when I try to move a file from one directory to another. I ended up discovering a work-around of using the cut-and-paste functionality. Chieh Cheng Thanks for this excellent tool which saved me a lot of data when a failed update to Win7 because of a bad DVD burn locked my main data drive via lack of access rights - including the image for the .iso file I needed to re-burn. However, I think there is room for further improvement in access rights. The shortcut approach doesn't seem to work under Vista/Win7 because the batch is not started with the required Admin rights. So I had to use the cmd prompt approach. If you could find a way (or explain how) this can be remedied - the GUI approach is much more convenient. Also, there seems to be no middle ground - only full control is granted to everyone. I realize that it can be restricted more easily thereafter via the Security tab, but having a switch for the most common options (read/execute only - read/write - full control) would be really neat. Cheers! Nansen I have developed TakeControl with Vista in mind. It works fine on my Windows Vista computer. Currently, I don't have a Windows 7 installation to test with. But in the future, I will make TakeControl compatible with Windows 7 if it not already compatible. Thanks for your suggestions. I will take your suggestion into consideration for future releases. Chieh Cheng
