Newer (GPL)

"Newer.cmd" is Windows batch program that determines the newer file, based on the two files as input. Once it determines while file is newer, it outputs the newer file.

"Newer.cmd" takes advantage of the following batch script. It is available on this web site. So to use "Newer.cmd", you'll have to download this other batch file, if you don't already have it.

"Newer.cmd" is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site. If you improve this batch script, please feel free to upload it back here to share it with others.

Usage

"Newer.cmd" "file 1" "file 2"

Examples

  D:\>Newer.cmd "c:\Windows\win.ini" "c:\Windows\WindowsUPdate.log"
  c:\Windows\WindowsUPdate.log

  C:\>Newer.cmd "\windows\system.ini" windows\system32\zipcontainer.dll
  windows\system32\zipcontainer.dll
